Our studio
Insteps was established in 1997 and in 2012 we moved to our lovely new studios, at the Ludlow Mascall Centre on Lower Galdeford in the heart of Ludlow.
We have 3 purpose-built studios, and our facilities include changing rooms, reception area, Grand piano, toilet facilities and a dance shop selling a wide range of dance clothing and footwear.
We currently have over 180 members and we offer classes in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Jazz and Tap with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) faculty. Plus, Acro classes with the Acrobatic Arts where we have specialised equipment such as our 6 metre Tumble track which assist the students when learning new skills.
We also offer classes in Body Conditioning and strengthening, Ballroom, Street Dance and regularly organise workshops in many other dance genres including Hip hop, Contemporary and Musical Theatre.
Opportunities at Insteps
While with us, students will also get the opportunity, if they wish, to enter dance festivals and dance productions which are held throughout the year at different locations. These are a great opportunity for our students to perform and do what they love. As well as a great experience for all we have also been successful in winning many competitions across different genres and this has continued to enhance our excellent reputation. We have also performed at some amazing venues such as the Birmingham Hippodrome!
At Insteps we produce our own in school production every 18 months, where all of our students are welcome to take part, and we hold these at local theatres. Each show is themed, and it provides all students from Reception school age and over with the opportunity to perform on stage with their friends and showcase to loved ones the skills they have been learning while with us. For each show we have professional photos taken and produce a DVD which are always very popular!
Examinations
We offer examinations (for those who wish to take them) in Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and Jazz with the ISTD faculty. If our students feel confident and happy, they can have the opportunity to enter the examinations which are held at our studios twice a year. Historically our students have experienced excellent exam results with many gaining distinctions. When students reach Grade 6 and above their ISTD dance exams gain them UCAS points which they will need if and when they apply for University courses in the future.
Students are also encouraged, if they’re comfortable, to perform in local productions both for Insteps and other amateur and professional companies we work with.
